Lakshmi Karthik: A Journey in Bharathanatyam

C R Lakshmi Karthik is the disciple of Smt. Anandhi Krishnamurthy from Palakkad. She has undergone extensive Bharathanatyam training, completing her Arangetram in 1999 under the guidance of Smt. Anandhi Krishnamurthy. Additionally, she received professional training in Bharathanatyam from Smt. Shobana Balachandra in Chennai. Lakshmi holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Bharathanatyam from Bharathidasan University, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, which she earned in 2009. Currently, she is a PhD Dance Research Scholar at IGNOU, Delhi, and is a recipient of a dance research scholarship as well. 

Lakshmi has also worked with Doordarshan from 2011 to 2014 as an anchor for dance and music events and is recognized as a graded Bharatanatyam artist with Doordarshan Kendra. She further served as an anchor with Sri Sankara TV from 2013 to 2017, hosting the show Bhajan Samrat along with various other cultural programs. 

In addition to her role as a classical dancer and teacher, Lakshmi is involved in dance interventions and holistic development through the arts. She published a book titled “Dancing Games” aimed at enhancing the holistic development of children. Furthermore, she holds an Advanced Diploma in Kathak from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Pune, which she completed in 2012. Despite being a professional dancer, Lakshmi also holds an M.Sc in Computer Science. She has developed a comprehensive dance curriculum integration known as LACE - Learn Ace Create and Educate, which effectively combines dance with science, math, and other essential aspects of education.
