Lakshmi Karthik is a Bharathanatyam and Kathak dancer and teacher. She holds a M.A in Bharathanatyam from Bharathidasan university, Tamil Nadu & Nritya Visaradh in Kathak from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya,Pune.
She is a dance research scholar and article writer. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D in performing arts (dance) at Indra Gandhi University (IGNOU), Delhi.
She is a recipient of "Shatakshi Women's Award 2020" from Rhythms Group, Mumbai for running Sri Nrithya Lakshana successfully for 10 years. She is a graded doordarshan artist.
Trained traditionally in this art form by her gurus, she is a skilled performer too. She is also an efficient television anchor.
Lakshmi began her training as a child of under Mrs. Anandhi Krishnamurthy and received advanced training in Bharathanatyam under Mrs.Shobhana Balachandra. Subsequently, she did her formative training in Kuchipudi style with the renowned artist Dr. Methil Devika. • She received her formative training in Kathak form Ruhi Masodkar. • Attended professional Kathak training classes under Ms. Jayanthi Mala Mishra. She received training in practical application Natyashastra from Dr. Sujatha Mohan.
